Momlife 101

An honest introduction to Motherhood; no holds barred.

You will always want to remember these blissful days of babyhood. Hours spent cradling your newborn in your arms, inhaling that sweet baby smell, and endlessly adoring the perfection of the littlest human that you just created. It’s truly a magical time. Throw in siblings under the age of three, and you’ve got yourself a real doozy.

But in this wondrous phase, let’s not forget the turbulent realizations that aided us in our growth and transformation. Our initiation of sorts, into #momlife.

Let me count the ways:

You learn to scarf down food faster than anybody else because:
a) you’re so hungry (it’s probably been too long since you last ate anything. (Also- breastfeeding.)
b) you’re trying to beat the baby-crying buzzer
c) the baby is already crying

Who knew that was even a thing?
You will forever be torn between me-time and sleep time.

The bathroom will be used for more than just… bathroom things.

You will hear crying even when nobody is crying. Except maybe your own crying. In the shower. And your toddler is knocking.

Warm drinks (warm anything, for that matter) is a luxury experienced very few and far in between.

You never thought you’d hide snacks from your kids… until you do. Zero mom-guilt there.

So. Much. Shit. Literally.

Mom arms are strong arms. Strong arms can still be flabby arms.

Accidentally waking a baby forms grudges.

Your true vices will be revealed

White anything is not your friend. Linens. Clothes. Drawers. Walls. Complex Carbs.

Personal space. It’s gonna be a while.

You better enjoy eating food cut up in tiny, little pieces. That’s what you’ll be eating because your toddler won’t.

Reacting to projectile vomit is a true test of your reflexes. (Same thing goes for projectile shits. Yeah, more shit.)

You will be longing for them to start saying, “Mama!” when all they say is “Dada!”… until they finally do.

Because motherhood is psycho like that

“Unconditional love” actually has conditions- you will want them to be your baby forever.

“The funny thing about kids is…
they are the reason we lose it,
and the reason we hold it together”
